Most repairs run between $350 and $1,200. Small holes and cracks start at $350, wall and ceiling patches run $450–700, water-damaged sections $450–1,200, and larger replacements $800–1,000 per day. Pricing is consistent across all 20 towns we cover — a Norwalk patch and an Ansonia patch cost the same. Both. A large share of Connecticut homes built before 1950 are plaster over wood lath, and plaster is repaired differently: hollow sections get re-anchored and skimmed, or cut back to sound material and rebuilt to the original plane. The common mistake is screwing a drywall patch over hollow plaster. It holds for a season, then the hard edge telegraphs through the paint. If your walls sound drummy when tapped, tell us — it changes the method and the price.
Because of ice dams, not usually a failing roof. Snow melts over a warm attic, refreezes at the cold overhang, and the backed-up water gets under the shingles. The stain lands a foot or two in from the exterior wall, which is the giveaway. The source has to be closed before the ceiling is repaired. Painted over first, the ring returns on the next thaw. Done in the right order — source, then cut-out, then dry framing, then stain-blocking primer — it is gone for good.
Three things: the joint is rebuilt rather than filled, the compound is feathered wide enough that the edge has nowhere to catch light, and the texture is matched to the surrounding surface before priming. Most repairs that fail were filled instead of taped. A crack caused by seasonal movement will move again, and spackle has no ability to span that. Re-taping bridges the joint so the movement no longer shows on the face.
A photo estimate comes back the same day. Scheduling is typically within a few days, and small single-visit repairs can often be fitted in sooner. Evening and weekend visits are available when a weekday does not work. If you are on a deadline — a listing, a closing, a painter booked for next week — say so when you send photos and we will tell you straight away whether the date is realistic.

It means the surface is sanded smooth, the texture matches the surrounding wall or ceiling, and primer is on where it is needed — so a painter can roll straight over it with no further prep. We do not paint the finished color as part of a repair unless it is quoted separately. Painting a patch without priming a whole plane usually leaves a visible halo, so on repairs in a conspicuous spot we will say when the full wall should be repainted.
